Amprius Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: AMPX) has announced the expansion of the Amprius Korea Battery Alliance following a successful launch event in Daejeon, South Korea. The battery manufacturer, which specializes in next-generation lithium-ion batteries built on its Silicon Anode Platform, added three contract manufacturers to the consortium, significantly increasing its global production capacity and strengthening NDAA-compliant supply chains for defense and aerospace applications.
Silicon Anode Platform Powers Alliance Expansion
The expanded Alliance brings together Korean companies across the lithium-ion battery value chain, including materials suppliers, component manufacturers, and production equipment providers. With the addition of the new manufacturing partners, Amprius’ contract manufacturing network now exceeds 2 GWh of global capacity, positioning the company to meet rising demand for its SiCore® battery technology.
Amprius’ Silicon Anode Platform differentiates the company’s products from conventional lithium-ion batteries by utilizing silicon-based anode materials rather than traditional graphite. This technology enables higher energy density and improved performance characteristics, making the batteries suitable for demanding applications in unmanned aviation, aerospace, and critical infrastructure segments.
NDAA Compliance Strengthens Defense Supply Chains
A central objective of the Korea Battery Alliance is to align Amprius’ global manufacturing operations with the requirements of the U.S. National Defense Authorization Act. By expanding production partnerships in allied countries, the company is establishing secure and compliant supply chain networks necessary for serving defense, aerospace, and critical infrastructure customers.
“Deepening our partnerships in Korea enables us to scale efficiently while delivering exactly what our customers require,” said Tom Stepien, President of Amprius Technologies. “The Alliance anchors Amprius within a world-class lithium-ion battery manufacturing base and allows us to accelerate SiCore® production within an NDAA-compliant framework.”
Korean Government Support Reinforces Regional Innovation
The launch ceremony in Daejeon drew participation from Alliance members, local South Korean government officials, investors, industry experts, university researchers, and media representatives. Discussions at the event focused on coordinating production schedules, integrating suppliers across the value chain, and establishing short-term execution plans.
“South Korea is a global leader in advanced battery technology, and Amprius is at the forefront of next-generation silicon anode innovation,” said Mayor Lee Jang-woo. “Expanding their partnerships in Daejeon reinforces the city’s standing as a center for energy and materials innovation, and drives new growth across the regional economy.”
The expanded manufacturing network positions Amprius to scale production of its SiCore® batteries while maintaining compliance with defense procurement requirements.
