Amiri is the latest designer to sign on as the official “formalwear” partner of FC Barcelona, one of the world’s most successful soccer clubs. As such, the Los Angeles-based brand from Mike Amiri will create custom suits for both the men’s and women’s teams, as well as club executives and leadership.
Previously the team had been dressed by Thom Browne for three years beginning with the 2018-19 season as well as Herno, whose deal ran though the 2024-25 season.
The Amiri outfits will be based on a palette of navy and garnet, colors that have become synonymous with the teams for more than a century. The silhouettes will include wool six-button overcoats, double-breasted suit jackets for men and single-breasted for women with gently flared pinstriped trousers for the winter season. Each player will also be given a pinstripe poplin shirt with his or her initials along with a garnet and blue striped tie and gold bar tie clip.
For the summer season, the pinstripes will be used on a newly designed shirt-collar classic blouson with an MA monogram embroidered on the breast pocket. Lightweight, sports-inspired knitwear with the same logo along with tonal FC Barcelona embroidery will also be available for the summer wardrobe.
Mike Amiri said the partnership “evolved very organically. FC Barcelona reached out to explore what a modern formalwear collaboration could look like, and from the first conversation there was a genuine alignment of values — excellence, creativity, and innovation. Many of the players were already wearing Amiri, so there was a natural connection. From there, we built something that felt authentic and forward-looking.”
He said in his mind FC Barcelona “represents everything I respect in sport — heritage, artistry, and the relentless pursuit of greatness. They’re a global symbol of unity and ambition, and that spirit mirrors what we aim for at Amiri. Dressing them was an opportunity to celebrate that shared mindset and to redefine what modern elegance looks like in the context of global sport.”
Amiri said while each look had the foundation of a navy pinstripe wool suit, “with subtle references to Barça’s traditional colors,” every player had a look tailored individually for him.
“The players were great to work with — their energy and confidence made the process enjoyable,” he said. “Athletes have different builds, so we engineered our tailoring to complement their forms, combining precision with comfort.”
Amiri said he admires the drive, passion and artistry of soccer, and while he didn’t play growing up, he’s learned to appreciate its influence and “emotional power” as an adult. “My kids love it, too, so it’s something we connect over now.”
By partnering with FC Barcelona, Amiri hopes to further the dialogue between fashion and sports, “worlds that are increasingly intertwined. It’s a chance to reach new audiences, but also to reinforce our identity as a brand that stands for craftsmanship, culture and modern luxury. Collaborating with a team as iconic as FC Barcelona amplifies that message globally.”
The deal with Amiri marks the first time FC Barcelona has had a formalwear partner. “It’s an exciting moment for both of us, creating a precedent for how luxury fashion and sport can come together in a meaningful, authentic way,” he said.
Manel del Rio, chief executive officer of FC Barcelona, added: “This alliance with Amiri represents a connection between two institutions that share the same ambition: excellence, creativity, and attention to detail. At FC Barcelona, we believe that elegance is also part of the way we represent the club, both on and off the pitch. Amiri brings a contemporary vision of craftsmanship and style that aligns perfectly with our identity and the values that define us as an institution. Together, we project a global image of innovation and sophistication, values with which we deeply identify.”
