FASHION IN FINSBURY PARK: How does Alexa Chung decompress after London Fashion Week? A night at the chippy in her Barbour, of course.
On Tuesday evening, she invited a clutch of her friends — Sienna Miller, Oli Green, Tom Sturridge, Georgiana Huddart and Alexis Taylor from the band Hot Chip — to Tollington’s Fish Bar in Finsbury Park to toast her new collection that she codesigned with Barbour.
Chung, fresh off walking in the Simone Rocha fall 2025 show on Sunday, wore a slipdress from the brand with a stripy red, black and green knit tied neatly around her shoulders that she said reminded her of 3D glasses at the cinema.

Her Barbour of choice for the night was a long red wax jacket named Lizzie after her best friend.
Chung has been synonymous with Barbour for more than a decade now — wearing her jackets for horseback riding — in the rain — when she was a kid, shrugging them over her denim cutoffs at festivals and zipping a bunch of them together, at Glastonbury, to make a giant sleeping bag with her friends.
What keeps her coming back for more with the 131-year-old brand?

“They have such rigid design codes. When anyone thinks of a Barbour in their head, they know exactly what it looks like and for me, that’s something to immediately rebel against. There’s so much possibility to play and explore new stories within their realm — like taking a Bedale jacket and painting it red,” Chung said.
Guests who arrived in their Barbour jackets brushed off the indecisive British weather outside and dug into the hearty and light menu that the team at Tollington’s prepared.
Negronis and martinis were served upon entry with anchovies, crisps and marinated peppers before moving onto red or white wine in the dining room, where the menu featured a whole seabass, brill, battered prawns, Andalusian chickpeas, chips bravas and winter tomatoes.

The spring ingredients were the prelude to sunnier days to come.
Chung said her favorite part of the season is Easter, where she gets to partake in an Easter egg hunt with her nieces and nephews.
“I don’t have many spring traditions other than to maybe swap my wardrobe around — putting more heavy stuff away and then try and catch moths with my hands and smash them against walls,” she said jokingly.
