Air Jordan 6 Retro Infrared ‘Salesman’ Release Date CT8529-001

A reissue of Michael Jordan’s first championship-winning sneaker, the Air Jordan 6 in Black/Infrared, has been rumored for quite some time, and now Jordan Brand has revealed the official release details.

Nike, Inc. confirmed Friday that the Air Jordan 6 Infrared “Salesman” will be released next month. As expected, the upcoming style isn’t the exact Black/Infrared combination most are used to, but instead a slightly different, obscure makeup with late-1990s origins.

While the Air Jordan 6 Infrared sneaker originally released in 1991, the upcoming retro references an unreleased sample from 1999 which featured different color Infrared blocking on the midsole as well as contrasting Infrared Nike Air embroidery on the heel. The so-called Reverse Infrared style, as some fans have dubbed it, was previewed to retailers and appeared in a seasonal catalog before the brand ultimately switched the look to the original. Now, for the first time ever, the salesman version of the colorway will be released to the public.

But Jordan Brand didn’t stop at the color placement for the upcoming rerelease. A press release describes the meticulous process the brand went through to ensure the upcoming Air Jordan 6 mirrors the pairs worn by Jordan during his ’91 NBA Playoffs run as closely as possible.

The bright Infrared shade has been reverse engineered by comparing both ’91 originals and 2000 retros to fine-tune the specific shade. The shape of the shoe has been refined as well, and the brand says it’s the first Air Jordan 6 that’s not a collaboration to feature the improved build. Internally, the shoe’s bootie construction has been tweaked to better resemble the originals. Even the shoe’s rubberized, hole-punched tongue is higher than usual, a detail Nike says brings it closer to the pairs Jordan wore on court.

“MJ won his first championship in this colorway, and since then, it has represented greatness. I’m excited for this newly reimagined icon to inspire fans to always strive for more,” Terrance Harvey, expert of streetwear footwear product management icons at Jordan Brand, said in a press release.

The Air Jordan 6 will be accompanied by a wider Jordan Brand Infrared collection including apparel and Air Jordan 1 Low and Flight Court sneakers. And later in ’26, Jordan Brand is expected to release the White Infrared Air Jordan 6 Retro.

The Air Jordan 6 Retro Infrared Salesman will be released Feb. 14 from nike.com and select Jordan Brand retailers globally. Retail pricing is $215 and the sneaker’s style code is CT8529-001.
