Air Jordan 4 Retro ‘Infrared 23’ Release Date II1271-001 

Whether it’s a fully flooded tonal look or just bright pops of energetic shades, colorful sneakers are a summertime staple — which makes the May arrival of this new kid’s-exclusive Air Jordan 4 right on time.

The Air Jordan 4 Retro will soon undergo a Black/Bright Mango/Barely Volt/Infrared 23 makeover which is somewhat reminiscent of the model’s original Bred colorway, if the 1989 style was reimagined with heaps of highlighter-like accents.

The new pair starts relatively simple with a black nubuck base which is livened up through Barely Volt mesh netting and further contrasted by a blend of Bright Mango and Jordan’s signature Infrared 23 across the midsole and outsole. It’s a color combination that could easily pass for a Christmas-themed look, but instead the pair will arrive just as summer weather begins to take hold.

In addition to the new colorway, unique to this Air Jordan 4 is a tongue label which features a realistic water drop pattern, giving the shoe some added summertime flair. The style will also come packaged with Infrared 23-colored shoelaces for those who want to add some extra pizazz to the pair. Also of note is the sneaker’s packaging, a retro design from the 2000s featuring Michael Jordan’s face.

While it will be hard to match the Air Jordan 4’s momentum in 2025, which included the return of the original White Cement style, the fan-favorite Black Cat and the collaboration that started it all with Undefeated, 2026 is off to a promising start. The year has already seen a popular new Los Angeles Lakers-inspired colorway and will soon include reissues of the Toro Bravo and Tour Yellow styles along with the model’s first-ever luxe Bin 23 iteration. 

The Air Jordan 4 Retro Infrared 23 will be released May 1 exclusively in kid’s sizes from nike.com and select Jordan Brand retailers. The style code for the new colorway is II1271-001 in grade school sizing and it’s set to retail for $165.
