Air Jordan 12 Retro ‘Obsidian’ 2027 Release Date 130690-410

One of Michael Jordan’s original, yet lesser-seen Air Jordan sneakers will reportedly be reissued next year after a 15-year hiatus.

According to leaker @zsneakerheadz, Jordan’s “Obsidian” Air Jordan 12 is set to return in 2027, 30 years after its debut. The pair was one of five original Air Jordan 12 colorways and the only pair that didn’t match the uniforms of the Chicago Bulls and thus was not worn by Jordan during in-game action.

With an Obsidian/University Blue/White/French Blue colorway, the pair took unofficial inspiration from Jordan’s University of North Carolina alma mater. The classic style features a dark obsidian blue tumbled leather upper with a ribbed design inspired by Japan’s Rising Sun Flag. A lighter french blue shade is seen on the liner and heel, while North Carolina’s university blue makes an appearance on the sneaker’s various branding hits.

Reissues of the Air Jordan 12 Obsidian have been scarce. Following the sneaker’s first release in 1997, it was released in a low-top variation in 2004. It would be another eight years before the original version received its first retro in 2012, but the pair hasn’t been seen in its classic form since. A 2020 Air Jordan 12 “Indigo” style featured a similar colorway but included some key differences that separate the two.

Other upcoming Air Jordan 12s of note include a black-and-red “Bloodline” colorway, an “Idols Become Rivals” look inspired by the Milwaukee Bucks and a holiday-timed “Eggnog” launch.

The Air Jordan 12 Retro Obsidian is set to be released in early ’27. Retail pricing and a style code for the upcoming release have not been confirmed, but the SKU for the ’12 iteration was 130690-410.
