Reports of an Air Jordan 11 Retro Low tied to Mother’s Day surfaced last July and now, the first in-hand look at the upcoming sneaker release has surfaced.
The Air Jordan 11 Retro Low “Mother’s Day” is set to arrive next month in a White/Metallic Gold/Team Gold colorway. The new style, which is also being referred to as “Gold Standard,” is reminiscent of 2016’s Air Jordan 11 Retro Low “Closing Ceremony” colorway, but features some key adjustments which give it a new feel for the upcoming May holiday.
The most conspicuous updates come at the liner and tongue branding, which use white instead of the black seen on the Closing Ceremony pair, the texture of the sneaker’s metallic gold mudguard and the tint of the outsole.
While the ’16 iteration features a smooth metallic gold mudguard reminiscent of the Air Jordan 11’s traditional patent leather material, the upcoming release replaces it with a leather-textured gold for a slightly more toned-down appearance.

And on the sneaker’s signature rubber outsole, which featured an icy tint on the previous pair, the Mother’s Day version dons more of a solid opaque look in a pre-yellowed tint. The golden treatment even appears on the sneaker’s carbon fiber shank, which is typically colored in a two-tone black and gray.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper holiday release without some added flair and accoutrements. This is represented through metallic gold split heart pendants emblazoned with the words “my heart.” The pair also comes with a card which reads “No one shines like a mother. Thank you for being the gold standard. Never flashy, always radiant. Solid, like 24K.”
Last year, Nike Inc.’s Jordan Brand issued a “Forget Me Not” Air Jordan 4 Retro for the annual mother’s holiday.
As for this latest Air Jordan 11 Low, readers can expect it to be released exclusively in women’s sizing on May 9 from Nike’s Snkrs app and select Jordan Brand retailers worldwide for a retail price of $195. The style code for the new colorway is AH7860-102.
