Air Jordan 10 Steel HJ6779-104 Release Date

The Air Jordan 10 isn’t always held in the same esteem as other earlier models from the franchise, as it was released while Michael Jordan was retired, and he didn’t play in the sneaker for long when he did return to the NBA. One of the original colorways is boosted by the fact that Jordan wore it in his last game at Chicago Stadium, and as it returns for the first time in a dozen years it’ll be bolstered by a small change with an outsized level of importance to collectors.

The Air Jordan 10 Steel will release later this summer with a toe box that wasn’t there upon the shoe’s launch 31 years ago. Normally, collectors wouldn’t love the addition of a non-original detail, but it actually stems from a feature that was removed by designer Tinker Hatfield at the request of Jordan. Even though the panel was discarded during the development process, some pairs with the toe box still ended up making their way out to collectors and became all the valuable because of the abnormality.

Aside from those lines above the toe, the Air Jordan 10 Steel remains the same as it has for its previous releases in 2013, 2005 and 1994. White, black and gray retain a clean look throughout the majority of the sneaker, and pops of blue can be found on the insole and outsole.

Jordan wore the Air Jordan 10 Steel while putting up 52 points during a September 1994 charity game hosted by Scottie Pippen for the final event at Chicago Stadium. The Chicago Bulls then moved into the United Center for the 1994-95 season, which is where Jordan would join them when he came out of retirement the following March.

For the small chunk of that regular season and the first two rounds of the playoffs, Jordan played in the Chicago colorway of the Air Jordan 10. In the Eastern Conference Finals, he moved onto the Air Jordan 11 despite the shoe still being in the prototype phase and him being told explicitly not to by Nike.

The Air Jordan 10 Steel will release on Aug. 2 through the Snkrs app and select third-party retailers. Pricing is set at $200.
