A Used Lucid Air Is A Heck Of A Lot Of Car For Less Than $50,000

The Lucid Air isn’t the most affordable electric vehicle on the market, but it’s absolutely fantastic. Even the least expensive version, which starts at about $70,000, offers 420 miles of range and can hit 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. Most people can’t afford a car that expensive since most people don’t make that much money in a year, but if you like the idea of the Lucid Air, there’s some good news. The used market has continued to do its thing, and prices are coming down. In fact, I just found one listed for less than $50,000.

It’s possible that this isn’t the first Air to be advertised below the $50,000 mark, but it’s definitely the first one I’ve seen. That said, it’s no 1,234-hp Air Sapphire. Instead, the car in question is a 2024 Air Pure with 5,878 miles on the odometer. It’s also black, which isn’t a very exciting color, but for $49,990, it’s hard to complain. Plus, are you really going to turn your nose up at 430 horsepower? Really? Of course, you could find more powerful vehicles, but surely, you can be happy with a zero-to-60 time that’s less than five seconds, right?

It might not be the exact spec you would have chosen, and yes, it’s used, but you get a nearly new car for about $20,000 off, and all you have to sacrifice is a few thousand miles off the warranty. That sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

Then again, that’s not necessarily the best Lucid Air deal out there. If you’re willing to spend about $2,000 more and don’t mind a car you’d probably have to travel to test drive, there’s a white 2023 Lucid Air Touring with 19,516 miles on the odometer in San Jose, California selling for $51,900. We’re talking more than three times the mileage, but you also get 620 hp, a 3.4-second zero-to-60 time, more than 400 miles of range and all-wheel drive, as well as several more desirable features.

It’s going to be a while before used Lucid Airs fall into truly affordable territory, and it still remains to be seen just how reliable they’ll be long-term — or even if the company itself will still exist in a few years — but it’s always going to be nice to see cool, desirable cars get more affordable.
