Kaia Gerber kept transparency in rotation for “The Shards” in London on Thursday, but left the shimmer of her New York premiere behind. For a screening at 180 House, the model and actress wore a black silk chiffon dress from Maria Grazia Chiuri’s debut Fendi fall 2026 couture collection.

Just three days earlier, Gerber had approached sheer dressing through a semi-sheer Valentino number patterned with delicate diamond beading. With Fendi, she removed sparkle from the dress itself and shifted the focus to layers, negative space and movement.
Gerber wore a black chiffon gown made from long, sheer panels and narrow rows of vertical ruffles, with deep V necklines cut into the front and back. She paired the semi-sheer ensemble with black briefs, visible through the sheer panels on her sides. Several sections extended beyond the floor-length hem, forming a loose, uneven train.

The Vuori ambassador completed the look with black suede sabot heels from the same couture collection. Styled by Emma Jade Morrison, she wore Jessica McCormack’s 3-carat diamond and blackened gold gypset hoop earrings and a 5.21-carat emerald cut diamond button back ring. She swept her hair into an updo with loose strands around her face and kept the beauty look subdued with smoky eyes and a glossy neutral lip.
Chiuri made materials, rather than a predetermined silhouette, the starting point of her first Fendi couture collection. She told WWD that she wanted the clothes to avoid constraining the wearer and instead “envelop” the body, an idea particularly visible in the lineup’s light georgette, chiffon and tulle designs.

In WWD’s review, Luisa Zargani described the collection as “sophisticated garments that murmur rather than scream,” while noting Chiuri’s use of sensual transparency. Gerber combined both ideas in London, revealing the body through the gown’s construction while maintaining restraint through its all-black palette and limited accessories.
Based on Bret Easton Ellis’ novel, “The Shards” follows a group of privileged high school seniors in 1980s Los Angeles as a serial killer moves closer to their circle. Gerber plays Susan Reynolds, one of the friends drawn into the story. The series premieres Aug. 5 on FX and Hulu in the U.S. and Aug. 6 on Disney+ in the U.K.
