SimActive Brings New Aerial Triangulation Tools to Correlator3D

Montreal photogrammetry developer overhauls tie point extraction, bundle adjustment and multi-camera workflows in the latest Correlator3D release.

SimActive has released Correlator3D Version 11.1, a photogrammetry update centered on a rebuilt aerial triangulation engine. The company says the release improves tie point extraction, accelerates bundle adjustment and adds tools to validate image connectivity for more accurate mapping deliverables.

What’s New in Correlator3D Aerial Triangulation

According to SimActive, Version 11.1 produces more robust results on difficult datasets through improved tie point extraction and visual feedback during processing. The update introduces a faster single-pass bundle adjustment and new link filtering tools that let users inspect connections between overlapping images. The company says these tools help operators diagnose weak geometry before it degrades a final orthomosaic or digital surface model.

The release also simplifies multi-camera projects. Users no longer need to configure a camera mount during project creation, which shortens setup time for oblique and multispectral rigs. Version 11.1 adds direct georeferencing and assisted RTK/PPK processing with user-defined position uncertainty, giving surveyors finer control over how much the software trusts onboard positioning data.

CTO on the Version 11.1 update

“Version 11.1 represents a major update to aerial triangulation in Correlator3D,” said Louis Simard, chief technology officer at SimActive. Users can now obtain “more robust results on challenging projects” while benefiting from faster processing and better visual tools to inspect and validate their data, he added.

July 9 Webinar on Aerial Triangulation

SimActive will demonstrate the new tools during a live webinar, “Improving Mapping Accuracy Through Aerial Triangulation With New Correlator3D Version 11.1,” on Thursday, July 9, 2026. Michael O’Sullivan, vice president of sales at SimActive, will host, joined by David Alamillo, a photogrammetry specialist at the company. Two sessions are scheduled: 10 a.m. Central European Time and 1 p.m. Eastern Time. Registration is available on the SimActive events page.

Correlator3D performs aerial triangulation and generates dense digital surface models, digital terrain models, point clouds, orthomosaics and 3D models from drone, aerial and satellite imagery. The platform is used by mapping firms, surveyors and government agencies in more than 100 countries.
