One of the most magical fan scenes from this World Cup comes to us from Boston, where the city has been invaded, overrun, and completely taken over by Scotland fans. The streets are tartan, the celebrations are strong, and now there are growing pains as the city is quite literally running out of beer.
Do you have any idea how impressive it is that Boston of all places is running out of beer because of Scotland fans? Zero shade on the city, but it’s one of the United States’ capitals of binge drinking. It would be like a single herd of European seals migrating to Antarctica and eating all the penguins. Hell, I’d wager at some point FIFA chose Boston as the host city for Scotland expressly because someone said “they have enough alcohol.”
The entire Scotland x Boston experience is being chronicled on TikTok, and the results are simply incredible. You can get lost for hours just scrolling through endless videos of fans partying in the streets of Boston. Here are some of the best we’ve seen so far.
Perhaps the best part is that no matter how wild the Scotland fans get, they’re extremely clean and take care of the areas they’ve partied in. Just check out this Boston sanitation worker who is floored by how clean they have left areas he’s tasked with cleaning up.
This whole experience has made me realize something: There are a lot of similarities between Scotland and Boston when you think about it.
The Scottish experience in New England is just so pure. They next play on Friday night in Foxboro, where the Tartan Army will see their beloved take on Morocco. They’re in a brutal group that also contains Brazil, but the Scots are going to keep the party going as long as possible — and we’re here to support them.
