The Gel-Kayano is Asics‘ longest-running shoe franchise, delivering models focused of stability since 1993. It’s still one of the company’s most popular series along with the max-cushioned Gel-Nimbus, and the latest update is just a month away.
The Asics Gel-Kayano 33 boasts a new stability system and that incorporates dual cushioning for the first time in the line’s history. Soft and more responsive FF Blast Max foam sits directly underfoot and above more firm FF Blast Plus foam acting as a bed of stability. These two foams are just one part of the new FluidSupport system, which replaces 4D Guidance and uses fresh geometry to guide the foot forward from heel toe toe.
Revisions also come to the engineered mesh upper to dial up the fit, stretch and breathability, while the heel’s PureGel unit and an AsicsGrip outsole carry over from the Gel-Nimbus 32.
“Inspired by a ‘supersuit’ design concept, we set out to create a product that works in sync with the human body while providing a secure, supportive feel,” Susan Hoddinott-Au, product manager for Asics’ Performance Running Division, said in a press release. “We focused on delivering a softer, smoother experience that adapts to each runner, while maintaining the trusted support that defines the Gel-Kayano series.
Older models from the Gel-Kayano franchise have also been key to Asics’ gains in lifestyle, particularly the Gel-Kayano 14 and Gel-Kayano 12.1. Within running, the Nova Novablast 4 and brand-new Megablast both drove major growth in the final quarter of fiscal 2025.
The Asics Gel-Kayano 33 will release June 1 through Asics’ stores and website, as well as select third-party retailers, and the website is now accepting preorders. Pricing is set at $170.
