Carpenter’s outfit was designed by Dior creative director Jonathan Anderson. The look was an ode to the 1954 Billy Wilder film “Sabrina,” starring Audrey Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart and William Holden. The slit tulle dress was crafted with full-body wrap of rhinestone filmstrips, which featured stills from the film.
Along with her filmstrip dress, Carpenter wore a dazzling head piece, accentuated by Old Hollywood style hairdo with soft barrel curls. The headpiece also featured stills from the show, including the middle pendant on Carpenter’s forehead with the title card for the picture.

She capped off the look with Christian Louboutin black platform heels.
Carpenter was styled by Jared Ellner for the event. The “House Tour” singer served on the host committee of the 2026 Met Gala, which was cochaired by Zoë Kravitz and Saint Laurent creative director Anthony Vaccarello.

The invitation reflected her rapid ascent as one of pop’s biggest stars, following the global success of her “Short n’ Sweet” era. Carpenter had attended the Met Gala three times previously, making her debut in 2022 in a gold and silver Paco Rabanne set.
She appeared in 2024 in an Oscar de la Renta ballgown with a black bodice and a pastel satin skirt, and returned in 2025 in a burgundy Louis Vuitton bodysuit with a dramatic suit-tail train, designed by Pharrell Williams.

The 2026 Met Gala took place on Monday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This year’s exhibition, “Costume Art,” celebrated fashion as an art form, with a dress code of “Fashion Is Art.” The event was co-chaired by Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour, with Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos serving as honorary chairs. The annual benefit raises funds for the Met’s Costume Institute.
