Adwoa Aboah Launches Mental Health-focused Capsule With Cou Cou

LET’S TALK: British fashion model Adwoa Aboah will unveil a mental health-focused capsule with London-based intimates label Cou Cou on Thursday in support of Gurls Talk, a nonprofit platform founded by Aboah in 2015 dedicated to providing a safe space for young women to discuss mental health and social issues.

Coninciding with Mental Health Awareness Month, observed annually in May since 1949 in the U.K., the collaboration centers on an “Out of Order” slogan T-shirt, produced in partnership with Dover Street Market London.

The t-shirts will be available exclusively through Cou Cou and Dover Street Market London from Friday, with an event at Rose Bakery on May 16. All profits from the project will go to Gurls Talk.

The brand said the project between Cou Cou founder Rose Colcord and Aboah is positioned as both a fundraiser and a conversation starter, challenging expectations of perfection and encouraging women to embrace emotional “messiness.”

As part of the initiative, Aboah will lead a series of conversations with hair artist Taiba Akhuetie, trans actress Janet Anderson, musician Missy Dabice of the punk and indie rock band Mannequin Pussy, and stylist Becky Akinyode on topics including mental health, feeling “out of order” and the realities of women’s lived experience. The talks will run on Cou Cou’s platform.

Colcord founded Cou Cou in 2022 with a focus on intimate wear made from 100 percent organic cotton. The company also counts Elizabeth Pollyanna Betancourt of Polly King, investor and Tetra Pak heir Magnus Rausing, and Sarah Stennett of First Access Entertainment Group, as company directors.
