Dronamics has announced a strategic investment from Asia Air Survey Co., Ltd. (TSE: 9233). The company is also establishing a Japanese subsidiary, Dronamics Japan Holdings Co., Ltd. Asia Air Survey, investing through its Corporate Venture Capital arm, becomes the first Japanese investor in Dronamics.

Black Swan Drone Targets Japan’s Geospatial Sector
Founded in 1954, Asia Air Survey developed the world’s first analytical aerial triangulation system in 1960. The company now delivers geospatial services across more than 30 countries. Services span disaster prevention, environmental consulting, forestry, and infrastructure management.
The partnership focuses on integrating the Black Swan drone into Asia Air Survey’s geospatial workflows. The Black Swan carries 350 kg of payload over a range of 2,500 km. Its multi-role design supports logistics, mapping, and civil protection missions.
“We recognize Dronamics as one of the world’s most advanced startups, planning the first certified unmanned cargo aircraft service globally,” said Shingo Urakawa, Board Member of Asia Air Survey. “By combining the technologies and expertise of our two companies, we believe there is significant potential for the development of new services.”
Japan Expansion Extends Black Swan Drone into Asia-Pacific
Rangelov cited Japan as a multi-billion dollar opportunity for cargo, disaster prevention, and civil protection missions.
“The strategic investment by Asia Air Survey, a leading company in aerial surveying, is a testament to the technology we have designed, built and tested repeatedly,” said Svilen Rangelov, Co-Founder and CEO of Dronamics. “Unmanned systems will power the new industrial age and our large, long-endurance drones are unrivalled not only in Europe but in Asia-Pacific as well.”
The Japan move follows Dronamics’ earlier Kawasaki Motors partnership to integrate aero piston engines into the Black Swan platform. Dronamics holds Europe’s first licensed cargo drone airline certification, recognized by both IATA and ICAO.
