Tina Knowles, Cookie Johnson and More Star in Elisa Johnson’s Campaign

Elisa Johnson, the Los Angeles-based eyewear brand founded by designer Elisa Johnson, has unveiled a new Mother’s Day campaign celebrating women whose impact extends across generations. The campaign features her mother, Cookie Johnson, as well as Tina Knowles, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, Pauletta Washington, and Mara Brock Akil.

The creative project pays tribute to motherhood and mentorship, exploring how women influence one another across communities and industries.

“Motherhood means that I have been blessed by God with the privilege of raising, contributing to, teaching, learning from, loving on, and being loved by another human being on this Earth that we live on. I always say it’s the best job I’ve ever had,” Knowles, mother of Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Solange Knowles, said in a statement, adding that her daughters taught her “to give myself more grace and that I don’t have to be perfect all the time.”

Elisa Johnson, who launched her namesake eyewear line with the goal of redefining accessibility in luxury design, centers this campaign on personal inspiration and cultural legacy. Growing up in Los Angeles, she was surrounded by women who balanced family, creativity and business, including her own mother, Cookie.

“Motherhood brings a new dimension to your life, it’s no longer just ‘Me, Me, I, I.’ You are caring for another human being and it is the most beautiful thing that can happen to a person. It can also be very hard, but at the end of the day, you look back and say — this is a place where I can pour all of my wisdom, knowledge, and love but most of all, learn what unconditional love is,” Cookie Johnson said.

The campaign’s imagery presents an intimate narrative. Shot with a focus on emotional authenticity and personal style, each portrait highlights the featured women as both icons and individuals. Rather than relying on nostalgia, the visuals look forward, showing the continued relevance of women who have long been catalysts for cultural change.

Creative direction comes from Kyle Bryan, founder of Function Global, who worked closely with Johnson to shape the campaign’s concept. The collaboration aims to frame motherhood within a modern, fashion-forward context while retaining emotional depth.

The campaign launches Tuesday across the brand’s digital platforms.
