Lyra Pramuk has announced an EP reworking songs from last year’s Hymnal. Out via Pop.Soil/7k, Hymnal (Resung) features music from TraTraTrax honcho Verraco, South African vocalist/composer Dumama, Catalan duo Tarta Relena, and a collaborative edit from Laurel Halo and John Tejada. There is also an “Endless Rework” of the song “Ending” by Djrum, presented as the lead single. Check that out below.
Pramuk said in a press release, “A global constellation of sonic voices is invited to reimagine my album Hymnal—a work of ecological grief, spiritual invocation, and queer embodiment. Composed of processed voice and strings, Hymnal draws from devotional music, minimalist composition, and the communal inheritance of techno, gospel, and folk traditions. It is a requiem for fractured ecologies and a testament to the resilience of life. This rework project invites artists to deconstruct and recompose individual tracks as acts of sonic translation: ritual, mourning, conjuring, renewal. Hymnal (Resung) is not a remix album, but a polyphonic transmission, each piece a new vector in the ongoing dialogue between collapse and care, ancestry and futurity, the body and the earth.”
