Meryl Streep Has Miranda Priestly-like Reaction to Crocs on ‘Colbert’

Leave it to Stephen Colbert to get Meryl Streep to do a TikTok about Crocs. The Academy Award-winning actress is in New York to promote “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” and she stopped by “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” on Wednesday to do a Crocs-related skit for the social media platform, inspired by the original film.

In the clip, the pair are lip-syncing an audio from the original film. In the scene, Streep’s character, Miranda Priestly, judges her new assistant, Andy Sachs, by giving her a drastic up-and-down look at her clothes and shoes.

Styled by Micaela Erlanger, Streep reprised her role in the TikTok, while Colbert played Andy, whom Priestly flippantly referred to as “Emily,” the name of her other assistant. As the camera pans down on the comedian’s shoes, it shows that he’s wearing a pair of bright red Crocs Classic Clogs and Streep gives him a disapproving look over her glasses.

While she may have been displeased with the red Crocs, Streep kept her footwear classic yet modern for the TV appearance. The “Mamma Mia!” star opted for a pair of Gianvito Rossi heels, going for the Sofia Sling 70 in all black, which retail for $995 on the designer’s website.

The shoes are crafted from smooth leather, and feature a sleek pointed toe and an adjustable slingback strap that’s embellished with the brand’s signature Ribbon buckle in gold. The shoes are defined by the maison’s distinctive 70mm “Sofia” heel, which the brand describes as “a perfect blend of modernity and retro spirit.” The heel measures 2.8 inches and features a tapered design that is slightly wider at the base, somewhat like a wedge heel, but then slims down into a small stiletto heel.

Streep wore a leopard-print jacket from Givenchy’s unreleased fall 2026 collection, which was designed by Sarah Burton, which she paired with black pants. Underneath the jacket, she wore a cerulean sweater from J.Crew, which is also a nod to the same scene they reenacted from the original 2006 film. On her arm she carried a Hudson handbag by DeMellier London in black leather with gold hardware.

The press appearance is one of the first that will take place as part of the promotional tour ahead of the film’s scheduled release, which is slated for May 1. The press tour kicked off in Mexico City earlier this week, and Streep wore a pair of Aldo slingback heels in red to one of the events. Anne Hathaway also returns reprising her role as Andy Sachs, with Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci also returning for the sequel.
