Michael Jordan Remains Highest-paid Athlete Thanks to Jordan Brand

Michael Jordan once again came in at the top of Sportico’s annual list of all-time highest-paid athletes, and his lead has only grown from his nearest competitor.

Jordan Brand alone earned its namesake an estimated $250 million in 2025 to bring his lifetime earnings to a total of $3.28 billion (or $4.5 billion adjusted for inflation). His lead over the number-two earner, Tiger Woods, grew from $850 million to $1.31 billion over the last year, as the golfer’s lifetime haul now stands at $1.97 billion ($2.88 billion adjusted).

Despite revenue dropping by 16 percent in fiscal 2025, Jordan Brand still generated $7.3 billion over the same time period, which would make Jordan’s cut 3.4 percent before accounting for any expenses. Compared to the typical signature basketball line, Jordan Brand generates at least 70 times more sales volume.

In regard to sneakers, the next relevant appearance came from LeBron James, who rose from number five to four spot with career earnings at $1.62 billion ($2.52 adjusted). Shaquille O’Neal stood firm at 13 with $865 million ($1.32 billion adjusted), while Kevin Durant moved up one place to 16 with $985 million ($1.18 billion adjusted).

Steph Curry, who just last year left Under Armour and is poised for another large payday should he sign with another brand, entered the top 20 for the first time at number 19 with $920 million ($1.06 billion adjusted).

Kobe Bryant‘s $755 million ($1.13 billion) lifetime earnings put him at number 17, but Sportico hasn’t counted any posthumous earnings from the Nike Kobe line that have gone to his estate.

NBA players made more appearances in the top 50 than athletes from any other sport with 13 players earning at least $400 million in their lifetimes.
