Staud Partners With Amex for 60th Anniversary Gold Card Collection

On Wednesday American Express has announced its partnership with Staud to celebrate the Gold Card’s 60th anniversary.

The limited-edition resort collection was inspired by modern travel and experiences that embody the credit card. Staud created designs for the eight-piece collection that feature the custom patchwork and motifs that evoke keepsakes.

In an exclusive interview with WWD, Sarah Staudinger, cofounder and creative director of Staud, said travel has always been one of her sources of inspiration — “I’m drawn to the details you collect along the way, such as the colors, textures and small moments that stay with you long after a trip ends.”

She continued that the collaboration‘s goal was to capture the feeling of an “endless vacation” and create pieces that were easily wearable and packable wherever in the world. The intersection of style and utility also helped inform the collaboration by drawing from mementos from various destinations.

“Partnering with Amex felt very natural because the Gold Card is so tied to experiences — travel, dining, discovery and the memories you make through all of it,” Staudinger said. “We wanted the collection to reflect that spirit in a way that felt stylish, joyful and a little unexpected. The travel patches especially play into that idea; they were designed to feel like little mementos from the journey, almost like keepsakes you collect along the way. It all comes back to creating pieces that feel personal, versatile and connected to the experience of discovering somewhere new.”

The campaign also features American actress and model Laura Harrier modeling the looks from the collection.

“I never leave the house without my Amex Gold Card, and Sarah is a good friend, so it feels like such a natural extension of my daily life to be working with Staud and American Express for their 60th anniversary,” Harrier said. “The resortwear works for any occasion, but especially travel because it’s easy and chic. The Timmy bag is my favorite piece from the collection and a spring fashion essential.”

Lisa Kalhans, executive vice president of U.S. consumer proprietary products, reward programs and benefits at American Express, said with the 60th milestone of the Gold Card, it was an opportunity to celebrate its card members and the way they live with travel, dining and having memorable experiences.

“Staud’s playful and expressive approach to fashion mirrors how our card members experience the world, which made them a natural partner,” Kalhans said. “Together, we created something that feels both relevant and true to how people move through their everyday lives. We partnered with Staud to design pieces that reflect how people move through the world and what they carry with them along the way. That’s how we think about the Gold Card, too. It shows up in the moments that matter, whether that’s travel, dining or the memories you bring home from your journeys.”

Kalhans pointed to how Amex and the Gold Card have resonated with the cultural zeitgeist by “showing up in spaces” that are unexpected — from the 2024 Luar Ana partnership to Lizzy Gardiner wearing a gown of Gold Cards on the red carpet in 1995.

As part of the collection launch, Gold Card members will be eligible from Thursday until June 30 to earn a $90 statement credit after spending $350 or more at Staud in-store or online.

The American Express x Staud collection are available on Staud’s website and retail stores at midnight on Thursday; items range from $145 to $595.
