Blundstone Debuts First Sandal Along With New Aerocork Midsole Tech

Blundstone is expanding its footwear offering with the launch of its first-ever sandal and a new midsole technology.

Best known for its classic Chelsea boots, the 156-year-old Australian footwear brand is kicking off the spring/summer 2026 season with the debut of the new Aerocork Series designed for warmer weather. Featuring a new streamlined wedge-style midsole, the new series also includes a clog and a lightweight twist on Blundstone’s signature boot.

Joe Carfora, global range manager of leisure at Blundstone, told FN in an interview that the new collection comes after requests by consumers for a summer collection.

“While we were eager to meet that need, it was essential that we did it right,” Carfora said. “Our wearers enjoy a certain level of comfort, versatility, ruggedness and understated style from our footwear, and we wanted the Aerocork Series to honor those expectations.”

And Blundstone didn’t rush into the category. The executive noted that this new line has been in development since 2024. “Over the past couple years, we’ve focused on sourcing the right materials, refining design details, and rigorously testing prototypes to ensure the Aerocork Series delivers the same comfort, durability, and reliability that Blundstone fans know and love,” Carfora added.

The core of the new collection centers around a new Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified cork and polyurethane (PU) midsole, as well as a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) outsole. The company noted that both the Aerocork boot and clog feature a cushioned and washable Comfort Lite footbed, while the sandal uses a memory-molded phylon footbed.

“This blend keeps the sturdiness of PU and the cork, but with improved cushioning, shock absorption, and durability of PU soles,” Carfora described. “PU is naturally springy and energy-absorbing, and the Aerocork midsole offers both comfort and support from the very first step.”

As for how he hopes consumers will react to the new offering, Carfora wants the Aerocork to “become part of life’s everyday adventures” for the Blundstone wearer.

The collection carries forward our signature materials, including hand‑selected suede and premium full‑grain leathers, and our globally loved rustic brown colorway. We’re confident that our dedication to preserving Blundstone’s DNA in the Aerocork Series will resonate strongly with our wearers.”

Looking ahead, the executive hinted at more to come. “We have plans to extend the Aerocork Series in 2027 with additional styles as well as a wider range of colorways – this is just the beginning of our all-season range,” he added.

The debut Blundstone Aerocork Series retails between $149.95 and $219.95.
