Masters unveils new feature within vault for historical shots

The Masters has done it again.

We are all obviously getting ready to enjoy the annual playing of golf’s greatest tournament, and that means a few specific thing… one of them involving technology.

The Masters does things unlike anyone else and that includes how they handle all technical matters related to their tournament. The Masters app is the best in sports with how smooth and operational it is. We are several years into a world where fans can watch each and every single shot of their favorite players… the coverage that the tournament offers is second to none.

There is a new feature and it is amazing

Here in 2026… things have reached a new level.

You can now search through the Masters Vault for shots from Final Rounds, all the way from 1968 through Rory McIlroy’s victory last year. Seriously.

In playing with it the first thing I wanted to search was “Rory iron” given, well, you know.

And if you don’t know… the Masters Vault has you covered. Behold!

“The shot of a lifetime”, as Jim Nantz put it on CBS, was found and accessed within seconds by this particular golf fan. While the closing rounds of Masters from the past have been available within the Vault for some time now, the ability to recall something from my memory and pull it up immediately is pretty incredible.

Part of what we love about the Masters is the memories that we have associated with it, like Tiger Woods’ chip at 16 in 2005. The entire closing rounds are obviously very special as that one was, but certain shots stick out in our minds and being able to get to them without scrolling through an entire round is a first-world problem solved.

The shots from Rory and Tiger are special, that goes without saying. You have seen them a million times and want to watch them a million more. They are widely accessible and will also be replayed a ton in the lead up to this year’s Masters.

As noted though there are certain shots that stick out and that really matter. Relative to Tiger, I have always found it under-discussed how Francesco Molinari went in the water on his third shot at 15 during that fateful Sunday in 2019. Everybody remembers how all of the non-Tiger contenders fell apart at 12, but Molinari’s errant shot at 15 was when I personally felt like the impossible was really going to happen.

It took no work at all to find the shot and re-live it (sorry, Francesco).

This feature is absolutely incredible.

Well done by The Masters. As always.
