Kate Hudson marked her first Oscars nominees luncheon in 25 years in a red dress and a decidedly graphic shoe choice: a pointed, two-tone slingback shown on Lanvin’s pre-fall 2026 runway.

The “Song Sung Blue” star’s black patent leather slingback came to a long, narrow point at the toe, with an off-white panel set into the vamp in a sharp triangle. A slim black strap looped behind the heel and fastened with a small gold buckle, and the heel curved inward before flaring at the base in a sculpted drop shape.

Hudson kept the rest of the look close to the original runway styling. The red satin dress, from look 2 of the Lanvin pre-fall 2026 collection, featured a draped hip detail along one side and a front slit that showed off the shoes. A black belt defined the waist, while long black leather gloves that reached past the elbow complemented the two-toned slingbacks. The runway-faithful look was styled by Sophie Lopez.
In his review of the show for WWD, Miles Socha wrote that Peter Copping wanted the pre-fall lineup to feel “very eclectic,” and he also wanted “things that felt realistic as well,” pointing to the way coats and separates were styled for daily wear. Hudson’s look followed that logic in a literal way, lifting a runway outfit into a daytime awards season stop without reworking the styling.

The slingbacks also extended a busy awards-season shoe run for Hudson. In January, she wore Aquazzura’s Romance Plateau sandals — black velvet platforms with mesh inserts and a high block heel — to a Los Angeles luncheon in her honor. At the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, she paired a custom Armani Privé gown with Giuseppe Zanotti’s Sylvy satin platforms. Late last year, she moved through New York in Schutz’s croc-embossed Maryana knee boots in dark chocolate after a stretch of white and cognac knee boots that included Tory Burch’s Twisted-Heel High Boots during her “Song Sung Blue” press tour.

Hudson’s appearance at the Beverly Hilton came as she celebrated a Best Actress nomination for “Song Sung Blue,” the biographical musical drama that has put her back in the center of the awards race 25 years after “Almost Famous.” The nominees luncheon, held on Tuesday ahead of the 98th Academy Awards ceremony on March 15, gathered this year’s contenders for the traditional “class photo,” with Hudson’s red Lanvin dress and two-tone slingbacks adding a precise runway reference to the group shot.
