Mariah Carey brought a healthy dose of theatricality to her 2026 Olympic Winter Games opening ceremony performance on Friday in Milan, Italy.
The singer wore an ornate design from Roberto Cavalli by Fausto Puglisi. The gown featured an Art Deco-inspired design of shimmering beads and crystal embellishments on the bodice, waist and skirt of the dress. The look included a flowing, dramatic train that cascaded behind Carey as she sang “Nothing Is Impossible” and the Italian song “Volare (Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu).” Evocative of the wintery season, the singer added a feathery wrap to her look.

Carey accessorized with dripping Levuma jewels, wearing a bracelet, statement earrings and a $15 million diamond necklace to boot. When it came to glam, Carey’s blond hair cascaded past her shoulders in voluminous waves. The singer’s makeup was serene with popping lined, smokey eyes.
Carey has always had a flair for the theatrical, gravitating toward luxurious designs throughout her career. Glittering, rhinestone-encrusted costumes have been a staple for her performance attire, even as recently as her 2025 MTV Video Music Awards Vanguard performance last September.

Along with her shimmering jumpsuit and coordinated knee boots, the “We Belong Together” singer touted the “Rosée Éternelle” diamond necklace and earrings from Levuma, valued at $10 million.
Carey often collaborates with stylist Wilfredo Rosado, responsible for curating the opulent styles the singer has worn in the recent past. Though her 2026 Olympic Winter Games opening ceremony look featured unique twists for the occasion, Carey’s ensemble still evoked the design details that are quintessential to her style.
