Emerald Fennell Wears $1.3 Million Necklace at ‘Wuthering Heights’ Premiere

Emerald Fennell complemented her red corseted dress with a vintage Cartier necklace for Thursday night’s premiere of “Wuthering Heights” in London.

The Oscar-winning screenwriter and filmmaker added a black opal, diamond and platinum necklace by Cartier to her deep red dress. Fennell’s Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood gown was crafted with butterfly sleeves and a plunging neckline that gave way to a corseted waist for silhouette definition and a flowing skirt.

Fennell’s necklace holds a deep history, according to Sotheby’s. The bespoke jewelry piece, which was made by Cartier in 1937 London for a private collector, was one of the main jewelry pieces featured in the Cartier exhibition staged in 2025 at the Victoria & Albert Museum.

Thursday night’s “Wuthering Heights” London premiere marks the first time the original necklace has been worn in public in more than 70 years, per Sotheby’s. The dazzling jewelry piece holds an estimated value of 700,000 pounds to 1 million pounds — which roughly translates to $948,024 to $1.35 million.

Statement jewelry pieces have been a fixture for the “Wuthering Heights” promotional tour. The film’s star Margot Robbie has styled a few storied pieces with her designer looks. At the Los Angeles premiere of the film Jan. 28, Robbie’s stylist Andrew Mukamal delved deep into the archives for her accessories.

The actress’ Schiaparelli gown was coordinated with a Fred Leighton 19th century ruby and diamond ring along with heart pendant Taj Mahal diamond necklace that previously belonged to Elizabeth Taylor and was worn on a gold chain by Cartier.

“Wuthering Heights” marks Fennell’s film adaptation of the Emily Brontë novel of the same name. Starring Robbie and Jacob Elordi, the film chronicles the tumultuous relationship of Catherine Earnshaw, played by Robbie, and Heathcliff, played by Elordi. “Wuthering Heights” hits theaters Feb. 13.
