Portuguese manufacturer Chemitek Solar has announced the development of its Drone AgroPV Cleaning Agent, a specialized biodegradable cleaning solution engineered for drone-based cleaning of agrivoltaic (AgroPV) installations. The product addresses complex maintenance challenges in environments where solar energy production and agricultural activities operate simultaneously.
Drone-Based Cleaning Addresses AgroPV Accessibility Challenges
Agrivoltaic systems combine solar panels with active farmland, creating unique operational complications that make conventional ground-based cleaning methods difficult or impossible. These challenges include accumulation of organic soiling, agricultural residues, fine dust, and restricted ground access due to ongoing crop cultivation. The Drone AgroPV Cleaning Agent enables drone-based cleaning operations in these constrained environments, allowing photovoltaic module maintenance without interrupting agricultural productivity or damaging crops.
The product delivers full compatibility with drone-based spraying systems, providing high efficiency in removing organic soiling and agricultural residues while maintaining formulation safety standards for both crops and soil. The solution reduces water consumption and minimizes operational impact on agricultural land during drone cleaning operations.
Technical Specifications and Safety Certifications
Chemitek Solar’s development emphasizes sustainability and agricultural compatibility. The biodegradable formulation undergoes rigorous ecotoxicity assessment and compatibility testing with seed germination and plant growth processes. Independent laboratories are conducting comprehensive safety certification for both photovoltaic modules and agricultural environments.
The Drone AgroPV Cleaning Agent completes Chemitek Solar’s AgroPV product portfolio, which encompasses biodegradable cleaning, water treatment, and soiling mitigation solutions. Development occurs under the Alliance for Energy Transition (Project Code: 56, Reference No. C644914747-00000023), funded by Portugal’s Recovery and Resilience Plan.
“The use of drones for cleaning AgroPV systems represents a decisive step forward for this segment. Our goal is to deliver a chemical solution specifically adapted to this technology, combining efficiency, safety, and sustainability,” said César Martins, CEO of Chemitek Solar.
The company will officially launch the Drone AgroPV Cleaning Agent at Intersolar Europe 2026, with global distribution through Chemitek’s established partner network. More information is available from their website.
