MAC Cosmetics Brand Head Departs Amid Executive Shifts at Estée Lauder

MAC Cosmetics‘ head of brand is departing, WWD has learned.

Aïda Moudachirou-Rébois, MAC‘s senior vice president and global general manager, is leaving the post she assumed in 2024. Her departure follows a slew of executive shifts at both MAC and parent company the Estée Lauder Cos. under chief executive officer Stéphane de La Faverie, including seasoned creative Nicola Formichetti joining the brand in 2025 as global creative director and the appointment of Lisa Sequino as makeup brand cluster president.

A spokesperson for MAC declined to comment, and plans for a successor could not be learned.

Makeup at the parent company overall declined by 1 percent on a reported basis for the company’s most recent financial earnings, for the three months ending Sept. 30. While results for that quarter noted new launches and increased consumer acquisition and brand awareness with its “I Only Wear MAC” campaign, the category overall posted an operating loss to the tune of $15 million. Prior to that, Lauder’s annual report for its fiscal year points to MAC’s decline in face “and retail softness for the brand” as a driver of a 5 percent drop in makeup sales. In what’s widely read as an effort to mitigate those headwinds, the brand is entering Sephora imminently.

That category is now under the purview of Sequino, president of Lauder’s makeup brand cluster, who returned to the company after stints as chief executive officer of both JLo Beauty and Supergoop. At the time of her appointment last May, her portfolio comprised of MAC, Bobbi Brown, Too Faced, Smashbox and Glamglow. The latter three have been rumored to be for sale for years, and Glamglow went as far as to shutter its own e-commerce capabilities in favor of its Amazon storefront in 2025. The rumored sales, if realized, would leave just Bobbi Brown and MAC under Sequino’s purview.
