A week after Kyrie Irving was seen in it for the first time, Anta is now fully pulling back the curtain on his third signature sneaker from the brand.
The Anta Kai 3 “Chinese New Year” will serve as the debut colorway for the model focused on streamlining and stability. A bid for improved aerodynamics can be seen throughout the sneaker with more organic lines inspired by the peregrine falcon, the world’s fastest bird. Airflow was also considered in another sense via strategically placed vents throughout the upper.
Stability is targeted through a reinforced heel counter with hand-stitched detailing and a forefoot stability system with lines following the natural path of the foot and guiding forces while transitioning from heel to toe. Nitrogen-infused N2 foam then returns for the midsole from the Kai 2, and a special red tassel charm will come with a gold-tone Irving charm.
The white, beige, gold and red colorway previously worn by Irving has now been confirmed as the “Chinese New Year” edition. The palette was chosen to represent protection, abundance and new beginnings — the latter of which is particularly timely because of Irving nearing a return from the ACL injury that’s kept him sidelined since last March.
Anta is leaning into this idea even further with the messaging for the Kai 3, as it says it represents returning from injury “not just recovered, but refined.”
The Anta Kai 3 “Chinese New Year” will release Saturday exclusively through Anta’s website. Pricing is set at $135.
