Chase Young yoinked the ball from Cam Ward for the play of his career in Saints-Titans

The New Orleans Saints are just playing out the string at the end of a terrible season, but don’t tell Chase Young that the team should be tanking for draft positioning. As the Saints faced off against the similarly hopeless Tennessee Titans in Week 17, the EDGE rusher created one of the best defensive touchdowns of the year with a strip against No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward.

With Tennessee leading in the second quarter, Young chased Ward from his blindside and grabbed the football right out of his hands as he was bringing him down. Young looked like Walter Payton holding the ball in one hand as he raced for the end zone, and it resulted in the Saints’ first touchdown of the day. Watch the play here:

Young was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft to the Washington Commanders, but never really lived up to the hype. He’s been damn good this year in his second season with the Saints, and this sack gives him a new career-high of eight on the year.

This is an example of the explosiveness that once made Young such a good prospect. It’s probably the best play of his career. It’s been another lost year for the Saints, but at least this play gave their fans something to be excited about.
