Every year ushers in memorable red-carpet shoe moments, and 2025 was no different.
Eye-catching collaborations with soaring platforms were modeled. Spiky boots made a fierce statement. Exaggerated proportions were the epitome of whimsy. And flip-flops proved to be divisive. Below, FN looks back at some of the wildest red carpet footwear moments of 2025.

Michelle Yeoh attended the premiere of “Ne Zha II” wearing a collaborative clog style from the buzzy partnership between Crocs and Simone Rocha. Wearing a beige Latte-colored platform Crocs x Simone Rocha Siren clog, the shoes stood out as a glamorous take on Crocs, with crystal and faux-pearl Jibbitz adorning them.

At a fan event for “Wednesday” in Sydney, Jenna Ortega brought the edge with the Christian Louboutin Kate Max Booty Spikes Claw Ankle Boot. The style features a curved silver heel and claw-shaped silver spikes up the back of the shaft. She wore a gradient black and orange colorway, which matched her striped dress.

Wacky shoes were in the spotlight at the fall 2025 Marc Jacobs fashion show held at the New York Public Library in June. Among many whimsical and weird silhouettes was a pump style worn by Ego Nwodim and more guests. The shoe featured an elongated pointed toe, exaggerated far beyond the typical pump, and finished with a square tip.

Zoe Saldaña dressed up in a black and white Thom Browne look for the 2025 Met Gala, a color scheme that extended down to her platform brogues from the brand. In addition to striking color contrast, decorative perforations and a striking base, the shoes featured a patent finish.

In another Met Gala moment, Myha’la Herrold’s structured gray Luar dress was accompanied by eye-catching Timberland boots designed by Raul Lopez of Luar. The classic tan work boot was transformed into a thigh-high style with a close-fitting shaft featuring laces up to the top. The silhouette was completed with a pointed toe and stiletto heel.

Jonathan Bailey became the talk of the town when he wore black flip-flops from The Row at a photo call in London for “Jurassic World: Rebirth.” The moment fit into myriad fashion-related conversations: the rise of the thong sandal, the trend toward men showing their feet on red carpets and the overall question of what is expected when it comes to red carpet dressing. Bailey’s flip-flop moment even helped The Row’s Dune sandal place as the hottest product on the Q2 2025 Lyst Index.

FKA Twigs appreciates a daring footwear moment, and one of her standout shoe looks this year was a pair of boots made by Christian Louboutin for Matières Fécales, worn at the Pandora Talisman Launch party. She wore a black boot from the collaboration, which was seen earlier in the year on the runway for Matières Fécales’ runway fall 2025 show during Paris Fashion Week. The set worn by FKA Twigs at the Pandora event was defined by dramatic curves and angles, with a curved stiletto heel and pointed toe atop a statement sculptural platform. A sock-like shaft was a part of the distinctive silhouette as well.
