A who’s who of the Asian financial and creative hub that is Hong Kong came out in full force for the inaugural WWD Fashion Loves Culture Gala at the ballroom of Regent Hong Kong by the Victoria Harbor.
The evening was hosted in partnership between WWD and the Hong Kong Fashion Council, and celebrated global cultural exchange and style.

Following multiple photo calls, one of which featured a high-tech glam bot attracting a long line for the red carpet grade experience, the gala opened with formal remarks by Raistlin Lau, guest of honor and under secretary for culture, sports and tourism of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region; Amanda Smith, chief executive officer of Fairchild Media Group, and Bosco Law, deputy chairman and CEO of Lawsgroup and representative of the HKFC.

The star-studded gala was headlined by British actor Damson Idris, best known for his role as rookie driver Joshua Pearce in the “F1” film, “Mad Men” star Kiernan Shipka, Thai actress Thanaerng, Korean actor Sang Heon Lee, Filipino beauty sensation Anne Curtis, and Chinese model Ju Xiaowen.

Other guests included speakers from the WWD X SJ conference earlier in the day, including designers Jason Wu, Robert Wun and Fausto Puglisi.
They were joined by fixtures of the Hong Kong social scene, key representatives from the Hong Kong government, and a curated group of fashion influencers, including Irene Kim, Yoyo Cao, Susie Bubble, Bryanboy, Yu Masui, Ameera Khan, Alfonso Padilla, and Hanan Besovic, professionally known as Ideservecouture on social media.

Just before the starter, lion dance performers from Ha Kwok Cheung entered the venue and offered a cross-cultural moment onstage as they interacted with hip-hop dancers wearing traditional festive costumes.
Later in the night, celebrated pianist Rachel Cheung teamed up with cellist Trey Lee for a duet between courses.

The gala formed the evening crescendo of the first WWD x Sourcing Journal Global Fashion and Business Conference, which was a key component of the second edition of Hong Kong Fashion Fest, sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency under the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau.
The conference featured leading figures in the global fashion industry like Kim Jones, Fausto Puglisi, Jason Wu, and Robert Wun. During the half-day event, speakers dove into inspiring topics at the forefront of fashion, such as cross-cultural creativity, innovation through heritage, storytelling in fashion, and global sourcing.
