Laura Dern Slips Into Vintage Marc Jacobs for an LA Premiere

Laura Dern dipped into Marc Jacobs’ archives for the Los Angeles premiere of her latest film, “Is This Thing On?” on Thursday night. The actress, who collaborated with stylist Elizabeth Stewart on the look, selected a color-blocked dress from the New York-based label’s fall 2011 collection.

Modeled by Jourdan Dunn on the runway 14 years ago, the long-sleeve number was drenched in an autumnal burgundy color—appearing to be crafted from suede. A contrasting black panel cut across the bodice, adding an element of intrigue to the otherwise pared-back silhouette, while light gray accents at the neckline and cuffs provided a subtle finishing touch.

Dern wore the archival dress underneath a tailored black blazer with sharp shoulders. She slipped into a pair of glossy maroon knee-high boots, tying the color palette together. For beauty, the award-winning actress wore her hallmark blond hair in loose waves and opted for soft, dewy makeup.

The “Big Little Lies” star was in good company on Thursday evening, joined by her co-stars Andra Day, Kristen Wiig and Will Arnett. Day hit the red carpet in a long black lace gown with feather-bedecked sleeves. Meanwhile, Wiig opted for a high-shine satin black blazer and straight-leg trousers, coordinating with Arnett, who arrived in a sharp navy suit.

Directed by Bradley Cooper, the comedy-drama film, which hit theaters on December 19, follows Alex and Tess Novak (Arnett and Dern), a married couple with kids in the suburbs of New York, who decide to get a divorce in their forties. Navigating the separation, Alex dabbles in the New York comedy scene. Cooper, meanwhile, plays Balls, a wannabe actor and Alex’s best friend.
