Israeli defense contractor UVision Group has completed the acquisition of SpearUAV, an Israeli defense technology company that develops AI-based loitering systems. This merger combines two companies with complementary technologies to better serve the global defense market.
The acquisition brings together UVision’s HERO family of loitering munitions with SpearUAV’s Viper family of encapsulated AI-driven systems. Each family serves different operational levels. HERO systems provide precision surveillance, target acquisition, and strike capabilities for larger tactical formations, while Viper systems support smaller units operating from ground vehicles, naval vessels, and submarines.
What Are Loitering Munitions?
The Viper family brings reconnaissance, attack, Electronic Warfare (EW), and Counter-UAS (C-UAS) capabilities to the combined company. These encapsulated systems store in sealed containers and deploy like traditional munitions, allowing rapid deployment across multiple platforms without requiring assembly.
The acquisition accelerates SpearUAV’s goal of becoming an integral “battalion-level air force” that provides persistent support and operational reach through AI-driven systems. Together, the HERO and Viper families create an integrated suite capable of operating across air, ground, sea, and subsea domains.
