Week 13 of the 2025 NFL season will kick off with a Thanksgiving Day triple-header and the first matchup is an NFC North rivalry showdown featuring the Green Bay Packers visiting the Detroit Lions at 1 p.m. ET on FOX.
The Lions narrowly avoided a disastrous loss to the Giants last Sunday, storming back from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to win 34-27 in overtime. Running back David Montgomery did make a small contribution towards the win, but hasn’t made that much of an impact in recent weeks.
Below, we’ll go over Montgomery’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 13.
Fantasy Football analysis: Lions RB David Montgomery
Montgomery registered five carries for 18 rushing yards and three receptions for 19 receiving yards in Sunday’s overtime victory over the Giants. His 37 yards from scrimmage paled in comparison to the 264 put up by backfield-mate Jahmyr Gibbs, who broke off a 69-yard touchdown run on the first play of OT to put the Lions on top for good.
Monty’s numbers have been a bit underwhelming over the past month and he hasn’t finished as a top-20 fantasy running back for a week since his 65-yard, one-touchdown performance in his hometown of Cincinnati back in Week 5. He certainly hasn’t been the TD machine like he was in 2024 as he already had 11 trips to the end zone by last year’s Thanksgiving game compared to the five that he has this season.
Sit. The Packers have yielded the sixth-least rushing yards in the league this season and have limited opponents to just 3.9 yards per carry. Montgomery was held to just 25 yards on the ground in the first matchup between these squads way back in Week 1 and I don’t expect a spike in production this time around. Sit him.
