ANNIE’S MOMENT: Fashion figures and creatives turned out in force for the opening this week of the latest photography exhibition at the Marta Ortega Perez (MOP) Foundation in A Coruña, Spain.
The show, “Wonderland,” is the first major survey of Annie Leibovitz’s work in Spain. It ranges from the early years, during which Leibovitz built a reputation for her intimate portraits of musicians for Rolling Stone, including Bob Dylan, Grace Slick, John Lennon, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, to her work in art, cinema, music, sport, politics and fashion.
That fashion photography — much of which has never previously been featured in a public exhibition — forms the heart of the show.
“Annie has a magical ability to catch the aura of the people she is photographing. Her genius lies in her ability to consistently find the moments, the truths, that nobody else sees,” said Ortega Perez, founder and president of the foundation.

“Throughout her career Annie has been an extraordinary champion of women of all ages. Her images of older women in particular have a grandeur and beauty which is unparalleled,” she added.
“Wonderland” is the sixth in a series of photography exhibitions presented by the MOP Foundation, and guests at the opening event included Linda Evangelista, Karen Elson, Carolyn Murphy, Luca Guadagnino, Willy Chavarria, Ben Gorham, Vincent van Duysen, Samuel Ross and Pedro Almodóvar.
The first exhibition, which opened in December 2021, presented the work of Peter Lindbergh while subsequent shows have featured Steven Meisel, Helmut Newton, Irving Penn and, most recently, David Bailey.
“David Bailey’s Changing Fashion” opened in June with more than 140 photographs, including portraits of Mick Jagger, Jean Shrimpton, Cecil Beaton, Rudolf Nureyev and the notorious London gangsters Ronnie and Reggie Kray.
