Partnership expands Amprius’ international presence and supports next-generation battery commercialization
Amprius Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: AMPX) has announced the creation of the Amprius Korea Battery Alliance, a strategic initiative designed to strengthen the company’s international footprint and accelerate the commercialization of advanced silicon anode battery technologies. The new alliance builds on Amprius’ technical and manufacturing base in South Korea, a hub for innovation in lithium-ion battery production.
Expanding Manufacturing and Supply Partnerships
The initiative brings together a broad range of Korean companies across the lithium-ion battery supply chain. Early members include battery manufacturers, materials suppliers, cell component producers, equipment makers, and investment firms.
Through the alliance, Amprius plans to support its partners with joint technical and commercial projects, including business development and access to advanced technologies. Member companies are already collaborating with Amprius on SiCore battery cell production, electrode innovation, and equipment manufacturing.
“South Korea is home to some of the most advanced battery technologies and manufacturing capabilities in the world,” said Dr. Kang Sun, CEO of Amprius Technologies. “The establishment of the Amprius Korea Battery Alliance marks an important step in expanding Amprius’ global manufacturing footprint and advancing the commercialization of our high-performance silicon anode batteries. Through close collaboration with key partners across Korea’s battery supply chain, we aim to enhance scalability, improve cost efficiency, and strengthen our ability to serve a rapidly growing global customer base.”
Building a Globally Integrated Ecosystem
Amprius’ move in Korea complements its existing operations in the United States and China, forming what the company describes as a globally integrated ecosystem that connects research, production, and market access. The alliance aims to strengthen the supply chain that supports the worldwide shift toward electric mobility and clean energy.
With contract manufacturing capacity now exceeding 2.0 GWh globally, Amprius continues to expand its reach in energy storage. The company’s SiCore® and SiMaxx™ batteries deliver energy densities of up to 450 Wh/kg and 1,150 Wh/L, with third-party validation as high as 500 Wh/kg and 1,300 Wh/L.
