StockX is expanding from a marketplace to add a wing as an auction house.
The resale platform announced Wednesday the launch of StockX Auctions, a place to bid on curated items with no reserve. An initial lot of 28 sneakers will go up on Thursday with starting bids of $1, including an unreleased Off-White x Futura x Nike Dunk Low designed by Virgil Abloh, the Nike Mag brought to real life from “Back to the Future” and the MF Doom x Nike SB Dunk High.
“Our community has consistently shown a passion for unique, hard-to-find items, so StockX Auctions is a natural evolution for us,” StockX chief executive officer Greg Schwartz said in a press release. “This new experience creates a trusted, transparent, and genuinely exciting space where collectors can access items they’ve only dreamed of. By combining our verification expertise with real-time bidding, we’re expanding what it means to invest in culture.”
The initial run of auctions will only be available for U.S. consumers and will run until 4 p.m. EST on Nov. 13. StockX says it eventually has plans to make the new platform available for bidding across the world.
