C.J. Stroud injury: Texans QB being evaluated for a concussion

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is being evaluated for a concussion and is questionable to return to Sunday’s Week 9 matchup vs. the Denver Broncos. The QB took a hit after scrambling in the second quarter and his head bounced off the turf at NRG Stadium. He had to be helped off the field and eventually walked to the locker room for further evaluation. Backup Davis Mills has since entered the game to replace him.

Having won three of their last four games, the Texans entered Sunday’s matchup with a chance to get back to .500 and Stroud’s absence could put those plans in jeopardy. The third-year QB out of Ohio State was finding a groove after a rough start to the season, throwing nine touchdowns and just two interceptions over his last four outings. He was 6-10 for 79 yards through the air prior to his second-quarter exit against the Broncos.

Stroud has been sidelined with a concussion before, as he was forced to miss a few weeks towards the tail end of the 2023 campaign after suffering one vs. the Jets in Week 14.

Note: This is a developing story that will be updated as more information becomes available regarding Stroud’s status.
