Zach Ertz start or sit: Week 9 fantasy football advice vs. Commanders

Week 9 of the 2025 NFL season rolls on and the action will continue tonight with the Seattle Seahawks heading east to battle the Washington Commanders at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.

The Commanders’ season is beginning to go off the rails with three straight losses and without Jayden Daniels, they didn’t have any answers for the Chiefs in a 28-7 loss last Monday night. Tight end Zach Ertz was ineffective in the setback and we’ll see if he can bounce back to help the team get back into the win column this evening.

Below, we’ll go over Ertz’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 9.

Fantasy Football analysis: Commanders TE Zach Ertz

Ertz caught just four targets for 16 yards in last Monday’s loss to the Chiefs, his second-lowest output of the entire year. The Commanders’ offense in general couldn’t get anything done with Marcus Mariota stepping in for an injured Daniels and the lack of production actually ended the veteran tight end’s two-game streak with a touchdown.

There’s a chance that he can get back on track with Daniels back on the field in tonight’s game and I’d imagine that there will be a heightened sense of urgency surrounding Washington with their playoff hopes slipping away.

Start. The Seahawks have given up 47 receptions and 444 yards to opposing tight ends this season, both ranking in the bottom 10 in the entire league. That leaves the door open for Ertz to string together enough catches to make a difference in this one and I think he’s worthy of a start this week.
