Angela Bassett’s Gold Heels Shine Bright at the LACMA Art + Film Gala

Angela Bassett made a bold entrance at the LACMA Art + Film Gala 2025 on Saturday night, arriving at the celebrity-packed affair in a chartreuse-colored fringe dress and metallic gold heels.

Bassett’s high-shine platform pumps hailed from Saint Laurent. The “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” actress opted for the French fashion house’s Tribute sandals, which stand on a 105 mm platform silhouette. Made in Italy, the sandals featured a rounded toe, skinny ankle strap and gold buckle. What’s more, the T-bar silhouette —which has ebbed and flowed in the trend cycle over the years — lent a ’70s touch to the heels. These pumps also come in neutral shades, such as black and tan.

The actress’ bright yellow gown was a real head-turner as well, thanks to the cascading metallic fringe, which went from the neckline to the hem. The floor-grazing dress also boasted long sleeves and a slit in the back, allowing her shoes to be seen as she walked. Bassett, who typically teams up with stylist Jennifer Austin for her red carpet ensembles, carried a black satin clutch.

She added more glamour to the look with chunky dangly statement earrings and coordinating rings. Bassett wore her hair in a center-parted low ponytail that cascaded down her back in long, loose waves, finishing her beauty with a smokey eye and pink blush.

Co-chaired by LACMA trustee Eva Chow and actor Leonardo DiCaprio, the fourteenth annual event is, per usual, held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Meanwhile, guests will be treated to a musical performance by Doja Cat. Since its inception, the gala has raised funds for the museum’s exhibitions, acquisitions and educational programming. And given that Gucci is the longtime presenting sponsor, the evening is always a high-style affair.
