Exclusive sourcing agreement strengthens European supply chain and propulsion performance for autonomous search-and-rescue drones
DefendEye has announced a new exclusive sourcing agreement with Poland-based EU Motors to provide brushless DC (BLDC) propulsion systems for its next generation of autonomous drones. The partnership marks a significant step in DefendEye’s transition to National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)-aligned manufacturing, moving critical component sourcing from China to trusted European suppliers.
Strengthening Supply Chain Resilience
Under the new agreement, EU Motors will serve as the exclusive supplier of propulsion motors for all DefendEye platforms. The shift supports greater supply-chain resilience at a time when geopolitical tensions and export controls have made reliance on Chinese-made parts increasingly difficult.
“We are thrilled to source European-made motors for our drones,” said Alina Bredovska, Director of Operations at DefendEye. “This simplifies the complex challenge of relying on motors from China—especially when political factors make imports uncertain. Buying from EU Motors also gives us a superior motor with more thrust, less weight, and significantly greater reliability than the Chinese motor we used previously.”
The move to Poland, a NATO member nation, also aligns with DefendEye’s commitment to compliant and traceable sourcing for defense-related and dual-use applications.
Performance and Reliability Improvements
EU Motors designs and manufactures high-performance BLDC motors optimized for unmanned and industrial applications. The new propulsion systems are expected to deliver higher thrust, lower mass, and improved reliability compared to previous components.
“We are very excited to work with DefendEye and to see our Polish-made BLDC drone motors powering fully autonomous search drones,” said Michael Berger, CEO of EU Motors. “We take pride in our quality and believe that using our motors will increase the reliability of a drone designed to save lives.”
The exclusive arrangement will also streamline integration, testing, and lifecycle management across DefendEye’s fleet of autonomous search-and-rescue drones.
Supporting Critical Missions
DefendEye develops lightweight, AI-enabled drones designed for search and rescue, critical incident response, and Drone-as-First-Responder (DFR) missions. The company’s drones are used in both civilian emergency operations and military intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) roles.
By consolidating propulsion across all product lines, DefendEye expects to accelerate product qualification and improve readiness for emerging payload and endurance upgrades—key requirements for first responders and defense users operating in challenging environments.
