Week 7 of the 2025 NFL season is wrapping up and we’ll be treated to a Monday night doubleheader tonight with the first matchup featuring the Tampa Bay Buccaneers visiting the Detroit Lions. Detroit enters as a 6.5-point road favorite, with an over/under of 53.5. This is a battle of two of the top teams in the NFC and could have major tiebreaker implications down the road.
Below, we will take a look at the best DFS plays for this Monday night showdown.
Baker Mayfield, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (FLEX $12,000, CPT $18,000)
Mayfield has been getting the job done for the Bucs despite the mountain of injuries they’ve experienced on offense and his elite play has him at the forefront of early MVP conversations. 1,539 passing yards, 12 touchdowns, and just one interception is his stat line through the first six games of the regular season and he entered Week 7 leading all quarterbacks in total EPA.
The Bucs QB has been a solid choice in DFS throughout the season with an average of 21.6 fantasy points per game and he’s going up against a Lions secondary that will be without all four of its starters for tonight’s matchup. Mayfield would be an excellent choice for a captain’s spot here.
Jared Goff, QB, Detroit Lions (FLEX $11,200, CPT $16,800)
Just like his counterpart across the field on the Bucs’ sideline, Goff has been an effective steward of the Lions offense and is also hanging around the periphery of the MVP conversation. The veteran has nearly 1,400 passing yards and 14 touchdowns through six games and leads the league in completion percentage at 75.9%. He was even solid in last Sunday’s 30-17 loss to the Chiefs, going 23-29 for 203 yards with two touchdowns.
Similar to his own team, the Bucs’ secondary has/is also dealing with injuries and just gave up 347 passing yards to Mac Jones a week ago. A shootout between Goff and Mayfield is definitely on the board at Ford Field tonight and I’d strongly consider the Lions QB for the captain’s spot as well.
Rachaad White, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (FLEX $9,600, CPT $14,400)
Bucs starting running Bucky Irving has been ruled out for a third straight week with foot/shoulder injuries, meaning that White will once again hold down the fort in the backfield. The fourth-year veteran has been effective filling in the gap and has piled up 106 rushing yards, 51 receiving yards, and three touchdowns over the last two weeks.
White should be heavily involved in the offensive gameplan once again and we should see him get plenty of touches throughout the night. His ability to pile up so many yards from scrimmage makes him a viable captain candidate and there’s value to be had should he explode for a big game.
Tez Johnson, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (FLEX $5,400, CPT $8,100)
The Bucs receiver room has been a revolving door due to injuries this season and different playmakers continue to step up out of nowhere. The rookie Johnson had his moment in last week’s victory over the 49ers with a 45-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter and he initially thought that the “MVP” chants for Mayfield was being directed at him.
Even with Mike Evans and Emeka Egbuka possibly suiting up following their injuries, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Johnson earn some more targets this evening.
Sean Tucker, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (FLEX $4,600, CPT $6,900)
Tucker is yet another player who has been called into action due to injuries in recent weeks and he made an impact with a touchdown run in last week’s game against the Niners. With the aforementioned White set to take a majority of the snaps, expect to see Tucker pop up in the red zone from time-to-time and the possibility of him scoring makes him a tantalizing add for lineups.
Isaac TeSlaa, WR, Detroit Lions (FLEX $2,800, CPT $4,200)
TeSlaa hasn’t been used much so far this season, but he makes it count whenever he gets an opportunity to see the field. Case in point, two of the rookie’s three receptions this season has been touchdowns and he’s been a gadget player of sorts for the Lions’ offense. In a potential high-scoring game like this one, I can easily see Dan Campbell reaching into his bag of tricks and dialing up a few creative plays for TeSlaa, so I’d definitely consider him as a low-cost, high upside add to my lineup.
