LONDON — Delphine Arnault will receive a Special Recognition Award for her “exceptional contribution” to the global fashion industry, and “longstanding commitment to championing emerging talent” at the Fashion Awards in London.
The awards, presented by Pandora, will take place on Dec. 1 at Royal Albert Hall. This year, the event will aim to spotlight how fashion drives, and is driven by, wider culture, and how it intersects with music, film, sport and performance art to shape a contemporary visual language.
Laura Weir, chief executive officer of the British Fashion Council, described Arnault, who is chairman and CEO of Christian Dior Couture, as “one of the most visionary and influential leaders in global fashion — a figure whose impact is felt far beyond the boardroom.”
Weir added that Arnault combines strategic leadership “with a genuine commitment to nurturing creativity, education and opportunity. Her belief in talent as the lifeblood of this industry has transformed countless careers and continues to shape fashion’s global future.”
Arnault said she was honored to receive the award, “which highlights the importance of supporting young talents who will define the fashion and creativity of tomorrow.”
Arnault spearheaded the launch of the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers, which began in 2014, and is behind Dior Men’s support of the BFC Foundation MA Scholarship, which funds a U.K.-based menswear design student every two years.
The scholarship covers tuition fees and contributes to living costs, while also offering the recipient one-on-one mentorship from the Dior Men’s design team.
As reported, the Fashion Awards is the primary fundraiser for the BFC Foundation, which was created in 2019 for charitable purposes.
Its aim is to give grants to students, and attract, develop and retain talent through education and business mentoring.
The BFC Foundation offers support to designers through four talent prizes such as the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund; the BFC/GQ Designer Fashion Fund, and the BFC Newgen and the BFC Fashion Trust.
It also offers BA and MA scholarships to students, as well as links with industry through design competitions and Graduate Preview Day.
