One of my favorite sponsorship deals in any sport has been the Maple Leafs representing The Dairy Farmers of Ontario by proudly wearing a patch that simple reads “Milk.”
The Leafs have been repping milk since 2023, and there’s just something hilarious about seeing this physical, brutal sport while players skate around with the unmistakable toughness of milk on their uniform. Just when I thought my love of bovine excretion sponsorship had reached its zenith I noticed something incredible on Toronto’s helmets to kick off the 2025-26 season.
That’s right, the Toronto Maple Leafs are also sponsored by Oreo this season with a helmet sticker. So, quite literally the team is sponsored by milk and cookies for 2025-26. I’m not saying that such strong brand synergy is why the Leafs won their season opener over the Canadiens 5-2, but I’m not, not saying it.
Nobody else in the NHL can boast this level of brand synergy. The majority of teams are sponsored by banks, technology companies, or heathcare services. All are important, but none have that magical impact of Oreos and Milk.
