The NFL season is now five weeks in and that means we’re on to Week 6! Only two bye teams this week, but Justin Jefferson, Nico Collins and Jordan Addison are all going to be tough to replace this week. Last week all three put up strong games. Overall it was Emeka Egbuka and Ja’Marr Chase putting up the big points and of the two, Chase was more surprising.
The Bengals are in dire straits without Joe Burrow. His absence has destroyed Chase and Tee Higgins’ fantasy scoring, but garbage time can sometimes pay off. It didn’t pay off for QB Jake Browning though. Despite throwing thee touchdown passes in a blowout, the team traded for Joe Flacco to replace the backup. I doubt Flacco can turn the Bengals around as a team, but he should be able to help Chase and Higgins have a higher fantasy floor at least.
Minnesota Vikings and Houston Texans
Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Nico Collins
Pearsall hurt his knee in Week 4 against the Jaguars. The good news is that it isn’t a significant injury and there is a real chance he can play this week against the Falcons. He missed Week 5, but it was a short turnaround due to the Thursday night game. With a mini-bye, his chance to play seemingly go up.
Jennings also couldn’t play last week due to rib and ankle injuries, but the mini-bye should help him as well. There is a real chance the 49ers look much healthier this week on offense when they take on the Buccaneers,
Lamb rolled his ankle in Week 3 against the Bears and has missed Week’s 4 and 5 so far. He has yet to practice, so a Week 6 return doesn’t seem likely, but a return to practice might. George Pickens will continue to be the WR1 while he is out and this week they face a poor Panthers defense.
Terry McLaurin, Commanders
McLaurin suffered a quad injury in Week 3 against the Raiders, but wasn’t put on I.R. He has a chance to return this week on Monday Night Football against the Bears, but we’ll need to see him get on the practice field. Deebo Samuel continues to play well in his absence.
