NFL analyst Mark Sanchez in stable condition after stabbing in Indianapolis, per report

Former NFL QB and current FOX Sports analyst Mark Sanchez was stabbed on the streets of Indianapolis early Saturday morning and suffered ‘critical injuries,’ according to TMZ. Sanchez was in town to call Indianapolis Colts vs. Las Vegas Raiders game on Sunday. FOX Sports said Sanchez is now in stable condition.

TMZ reports that Sanchez was one of two injured people in an incident that happened at 12:30 a.m. The site reports that Sanchez was “rushed to a local hospital in critical condition.”

Here’s an update from the Indy Police Department:

Here’s a statement from FOX Sports:

Sanchez is 38 years old. He was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft by the New York Jets after a stellar college career at USC. Sanchez spent four seasons as the Jets starter before bouncing around the league as a backup with the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, and Washington Commanders before retiring in 2019.

Sanchez has been working in media for FOX Sports since his retirement.

Sanchez has three children with his wife, actress Perry Mattfeld. Let’s hope the former QB can make a full recovery from this awful incident.

We’ll update this story as it develops.
