Week 3 of the 2025 NFL season is upon us and the action will continue on Sunday with the Cincinnati Bengals visiting the Minnesota Vikings at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
The Vikings were smacked around by the Falcons in a 22-6 loss last Sunday night and got more bad news afterwards as starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy will miss multiple weeks with a high ankle sprain. Veteran backup Carson Wentz will hold down the fort in his absence and will lead the team against the Bengals on Sunday.
Below, we’ll go over Wentz’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 3.
Fantasy Football analysis: Vikings QB Carson Wentz
Wentz signed with the Vikings during training camp and is already being thrust into action after spending less than a month with the organization. The former No. 2 overall pick has been the definition of a journeyman since his stint with the Eagles ended in 2020 as this will be his fifth different team in five years. Sunday’s game against the Bengals will also mark his first non end-of-season start since 2022, where he started seven games for the Commanders.
Sit. If you’re curious about Wentz’s fantasy prospects, I simply advise you to look elsewhere. There are better quarterback options available on the waiver wire to consider and that’s even if the “Justin Jefferson down there somewhere” strategy proves effective for the veteran QB. However, his play is worth monitoring as he could be worth streaming consideration if he delivers this week.
