The Kansas City Chiefs were unable to pull out a win against the Chargers in Brazil last Friday night, but possibly worse, they lost their No. 1 receiver Xavier Worthy to a shoulder injury. The good news is that Worthy might return to play sooner than later, but it looks like it will be later than this week. Worthy is listed as doubtful, which means he most likely won’t play. His absence will again open the door for Hollywood Brown to see a big workload.
After Worthy went down in Brazil, Patrick Mahomes zeroed in on Brown, giving him 16 targets with the next best going to JuJu Smith-Schuster with just five targets. We can’t assume that distribution again, but it is quite likely that Brown is the top target once again.
Below, we’ll go over Hollywood Brown’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 2.
Fantasy Football analysis: Chiefs, WR, Hollywood Brown
Brown ended up catching 10 of those 16 targets for 99 yards. Most of those receptions were quite short, which is how the Chiefs offense has been of late. The Eagles ranked seventh in adjusted fantasy points allowed to wide receivers last season and did just hold Dak Prescott to 188 passing yards and no touchdowns (though there were some drops). This isn’t a great matchup by any means, but as long as Brown is getting those quick hitters, he should have a high floor and as the No. 1 receiver, he’ll have some touchdown upside as well.
Start or sit in Week 2 PPR leagues?
Start. He is a must start in PPR leagues, where he finished as WR9 last week.
Start or sit in Week 2 standard leagues?
Start. Brown’s upside isn’t as high in standard leagues, but he’s still a must start as Patrick Mahomes’ top receiver.
