NFL Redzone host Scott Hanson’s greatest strength is respecting NFL fans’ intelligence

It is officially football season. You knew that already.

You see, I respect you as an audience member. I am a firm believer that doing so leads to the best relationship between creators and consumers. I appreciate when others share this sentiment.

Chief among these people is Scott Hanson. Football fans know Scott from a variety of places, but it goes without saying Scott is most-known for hosting NFL RedZone where he guides us through the most intense action happening across the league every Sunday.

Recently, Scott joined me for a chat on the processes that go into RedZone. It was fascinating to understand some of how the proverbial sausage gets made.

Hanson does a great job of guiding football fans through RedZone without getting in the way. He knows, and acknowledged that this is part of his weekly research, that it is his job to guide us to things and stories that make sense, though.

Part of what is amazing to me about RedZone is that nothing ever feels predictable. As an avid golf fan, sometimes a golf broadcast will take you to a player who you haven’t seen all day. You know right away that this means something extraordinary must have happened because you wouldn’t be seeing that golfer otherwise. Hanson noted that RedZone is constantly shifting and flowing through stories and I believe this is why this type of bottleneck never happens

Scott joined me on behalf of his latest partnership with Lowe’s. There are several NFL superstars who dance throughout RedZone in a given season who are a part of it all, including Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson.

For millions of NFL fans, Sundays are about football, family, and tradition. With Earn Your Sunday, Lowe’s is encouraging them to bring the same dedication and preparation they have for their teams into their homes. From the smallest weekend task to the biggest home upgrade, Lowe’s knows that few feelings compare to the satisfaction of completing a project, and how much better game day feels when it’s been earned. Lowe’s is also debuting its first-ever Earn Your Sunday Trailer, which will travel to select Sunday Night Football markets, providing NFL fans with interactive football-focused games and experiences designed to capture the energy of game day.

In talking to Scott I offered a suggestion to him. You see, the best way your week goes as a football fan is if your team is playing in primetime whether that is on Thursday, Sunday or Monday. This is fantastic because it means you can spend your entire Sunday with Scott and absorbing all of the RedZone action.

We need to name this group. Specifically, we need to come up with a name for the fans of the team who wins on Thursday night. While Sunday and Monday night games allow for freedom to hang out with Scott all Sunday long those windows mean that you still hold stress about your team’s upcoming game. If you played and won on Thursday night… you are in the house. You are actually the clubhouse leader. It is your world and everyone is trying to match it.

May we all get to experience that as many times as possible.
